Volunteer Positions
The following terms are ones that will become common to you throughout the
meet season. The positions are not difficult and I will further explain your
functions when you volunteer. Thank you for your help.
Expectations are that each family volunteers a minimum of four meets per season.
Starter (home meets only) - Person in charge of running the meet. Announces events and calls swimmers to blocks and starts each race.
Timers - Simply start the stopwatch at the whistle and stop it when the swimmer finishes his/her race. Record time on swimmers card. Give card to runner.
Runners - Every 5-10 events, take timer sheets from timers and bring them to the score table.
Stroke a Turn Judge - Looks for legal turns and any stroke violations. (Experience swimmers please consider thisl position.)
Ribbon writers - Done Monday after a meet during practice, stick labels with swimmer’s results on individual ribbons, sort ribbons in the team files
Scorer - Inputs individual times into the Meet Manager Program to score the meet.
Card Labeler - Day of meet. Place swimmers entry sticker on individual event card.
Bull Pen - Help line-up swimmers from both teams in predetermined order to prepare for races..
Men’s Locker Room Monitor- Monitor the behavior of our swimmers in the men’s locker room between practices (5:20-5:45 and/or 6:30-6:45) on Monday, Wednesdays and Fridays.
